Outdoors

Their Natural Environment

Cattle are outdoors animals, there is no getting around it. We have often given our cattle shelter and they have preferred to stand in the pouring rain!

All animals, humans included, need fresh air and the sun to be optimally healthy.

Over many years we have bred animals that are no longer able to withstand the weather variation in the countries they live in.

We need to start breeding animals which can handle all conditions and are truly resilient!

Non-Growing Season

Any discussion of keeping cattle outdoors is incomplete without a plan for the non-growing season.

There are several different ways of managing this, from growing forage crops to stockpiling grass in the field to bale grazing.

In the UK and many other countries, the non-growing season is winter and comes with an increase in rainfall which needs to be accounted for.
