Chemical Free
Chemicals on the Land
In this modern age, we have access to an overwhelming range of chemicals, purported to solve every possible problem that we have on the land.
They may solve the advertised problem but they create many more that then need a solution of their own, leading to a vicious cycle of chemical dependency.
Using chemical solutions on biological problems will always fail.
Fertilisers kill soil organisms that create soil fertility. Herbicides kill plants that then leaves bare soil where weeds can come in. Pesticides kill pests and their predators, leading to explosions in the more highly adaptable pest species.
We must regenerate the biology and bring the ecology into balance.
Chemicals on our Cattle
The chemicals we use on our cattle on our cattle range from wormers to insecticides to antibiotics to vaccines.
It is worth noting that all of the cattle we raised before the 1800s were not treated by any of these chemicals.
There are unintended consequences to the use of them all.
Wormers kill worms but they also kill dung beetles which means the dung doesn’t break down, leading to an increase in flies AND worms!
There are natural plants and remedies available that can treat these problems.
However one of the main solutions is breeding really healthy and resilient cows!
