CONSCIOUS CATTLE

Raising cattle is a sacred pact between humans and cows that goes back thousands of years

We care for them every day of their lives, ensuring they have food, water and shelter at all times

We protect them from all the harms that might befall them, whether that be starvation, predators or diseases

We sacrifice meals, a social life and finances to ensure they are safe, healthy and happy

In return they provide us with the most nutrient-dense food this planet has to offer and a quality of life that is hard to find in this day and age

We seek to honour this pact in everything we do

What is Conscious Cattle Management?

It is the standard of excellence in cattle management that we are all striving to attain

Pasture For Life

Our cattle are fed a diet of 100% native grasses, forbes and browse for their whole lives

No Chemicals

We don’t use any man made chemicals on our land or our cattle, as treatments or prophylactics

Outdoors

Our cattle spend their whole lives outdoors

No Stress

Our cattle have a blissful, stress-free life where their death goes almost unnoticed by them

Regenerated

Our land has reached the highest level of ecosystem function that it could possibly attain

We are all striving to achieve the standard of Conscious Cattle Management, there isn’t a single one of us that has reached it

Therefore, we are Focused on Improvement in all the areas of Conscious Cattle Management set out above. In other words:

  1. Our cattle are eating more native grasses and forage every year

  2. We are using less man-made chemicals every year

  3. Our cattle are spending more time outside every year

  4. Our cattle are getting calmer and less stressed every year

  5. Our land is regenerating every year

These Outcomes on our land and with our cattle are what makes the essence of Conscious Cattle Management. Specific practices do not guarantee results as it depends on so much contextual differences in cultural, environmental and economic conditions.

So we have to be Technique Agnostic because we understand that we all have very unique farms and contexts. It doesn’t matter whether you are using Mob Grazing, Total Grazing, Rotational Grazing or any other form of grazing. What matters is that your land and cattle are getting healthier and you are getting wealthier!

There are no consultants or gatekeepers of knowledge that can tell you something is right or wrong, all anyone can say is

‘This is what worked for me’
